Jordan Partners Lead Campaigns to Raise Awareness on Women's Rights in Honor of 16 Days of Activism Against VAW

16 days Poster SIGIAmman, JORDAN (December 17, 2013)  - On occasion of the 16 Days of Activism against Violence Against Women, Karama partners in Jordan led campaigns and programs to raise awareness on women’s rights and inclusion, and to stop violence against women. From distribution of posters to a conference convening experts, activists and community leaders, Karama partners in Jordan activated local communities and national leaders alike in an effort to promote women’s safety and equality.

Kicking off the 16 Days of Activism against Violence Against Women on November 25th, also the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Arab Women Organization held a conference where Regional Director for Karama, Amneh Helweh, provided a speech on the occasion of the 16 days campaign. Roses were distributed to conference attendees in symbolism of the day.

Meanwhile, the Sister is Global Institute (SIGI), in partnership with Karama, launched its sixth campaign celebrating the 16 Days campaign. As part of its efforts, the group distributed posters and bookmarks through various media, including newspapers, social media and in-person.  SIGI-Jordan produced 3,500 posters and bookmarks carrying the message “Let our country be clean from violence” and distributed them in various governorates to diversity the reach of their message.
