Head of UN Women to open Karama 16 Days Conference

Sima Bahous speaks at Karama’s CSW61 side event

Karama’s conference to mark the 16 Days of Activism will be opened by UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous.

Taking place on Zoom over three days between Monday November 28 and Wednesday December 1, the conference will explore the work to end violence against women and girls taking place in the Arab region and globally, with specific focus on the threats to women and girls in Sudan and Afghanistan, and threats to civil society activism in Palestine.

Sessions on the role of the media, legal reform, and our panels led by young leaders and adolescent girls


Wednesday, 1 December - starting at 3pm Cairo / 2pm CET / 8am Eastern

Panels on ending violence against women and girls online; culture, tradition and religion; and ending violence against women in the workplace.
