Sindiyana discussion: Peace for Syria owned and led by Syrians

The Sindiyana Institute, formerly the Think Tank for Arab Women (TTfAW) held a discussion on the future of the UN-led peace process for Syria.

After more than five years since the unanimous adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2254, there has been no success in achieving progress in the political process for Syria. Although the Syrian Constitutional Committee has held five rounds of meetings since it was established in September of 2019, it has also failed in its mission.

So how can international diplomacy support a process that needs to be owned and led by Syrians in order to succeed on the long term? Sindiyana invited a panel of speakers from across the breadth of Syrian society to discuss the shortcomings of Resolution 2254, the current situation, and how progress could be achieved. With reflections too from the the UN Special Representative for Syria, the event and outcomes can be found here.
